Judith E. Pearson, PH.D.
Dr. Judith E. Pearson (Judy) holds a Ph.D. in Mental Health Counseling from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. She began her professional career as a social worker in agencies for families and children in North Carolina. She obtained her Master’s degree in 1977 from East Carolina University and moved to Northern Virginia, taking a position on the psychological services staff of a Federal agency. In 1980 she obtained her professional license as a Counselor through the Commonwealth of Virginia, Board of Professional Counselors (License #0701000692). She has held licensure since that time. In that same year, she became a research specialist and eventually a project manager in private industry, where she worked for several more years. While working full time, she completed her doctoral degree in 1983 and soon began building a part-time private practice and obtaining post-graduate training, supervision, and certification.
Today, she manages Motivational Strategies, Inc. her counseling and coaching practice, in Springfield, Virginia. She is also a consultant and subject matter expert on Neuro-Linguistic Programming, a speaker, trainer, and freelance writer. Among her post-graduate certifications are these:

Dr. Pearson has training and teaching experience as a guest speaker to several professional organizations. She is an Associate Trainer with The American Hypnosis Training Academy of Silver Spring, Maryland (since 1992). She has taught as an adjunct faculty member in the Webster University graduate program in Counseling. She serves on professional advisory boards in her field. Most notably, she is the Executive Director of the National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists, serving in that position since 1997. She holds a sub-contract with a national employee assistance counseling program.
Dr. Pearson is a member of Toastmasters International (for over 20 years) where she has earned the title of Distinguished Toastmaster, held numerous offices, and won numerous awards for competitive public speaking. She speaks to community groups and professional organizations on a number of topics related to self-improvement, personal growth, human psychology, hypnotherapy and NLP.
Dr. Pearson is also a free lance writer who has authored three books, scripted and narrated a host of audio recordings, and published over 100 articles in newsletters and magazines and on the Internet. Her latest book is The Weight, Hypnotherapy, and YOU Weight Reduction Program: An NLP and Hypnotherapists Manual.
